Yayoi Kusama has influenced my understanding of repetition, pattern, and the psychological possibilities of visual space. Her use of dots, recurring forms, and immersive patterns demonstrates how repetition can transform an ordinary surface into something psychologically and visually powerful. This influence resonates with my own use of polka dots, repeated motifs, patterned fabrics, and layered surfaces. However, I combine these ideas with my interest in the human figure, African cultural references, social realities, and mixed-media processes.
